I liked the sample, the rest... I got annoyed by the characters having to *sometimes* call out their skills to use them, the vacillating between juvenile and adult, and the unexplained skill in tactics that the MC had. But worse was the verb errors and editing hiccups. Overall, it’s a fun story. Worth a follow, just don’t expect a lot.
This story is a great addition to the genre. It’s an amazing read and a strong start from a new author. I am looking forward to more!

Not often do I feel inspired to review a book (most I buy are honestly trash). This book earned it's stars.
I've become so tired of MCs who wear light armor, sneak everywhere, and/or are mages slinging spells all day. I want a good old heavy armor wearing juggernaut. That he is half orc is even better. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the main character would sometimes get on my nerves, but it was very few times that I don't want to mention here cause spoilers. I'd really like to see him get more in depth with his skills and skill creation(ie maybe adding barrier with rally to make an aoe protection spell or something). I feel like he had too many times where that skill would've been perfect, but still he didn't explore it.
Mannn. Im mad as all get out. See this is why hate reading new series. You try out a book thinking it just might be ok, and next thing you know you start loving the characters and can't wait to see what happens next. But guess what? Now i have to wait for book 2. This sucks... Hurry up Mr. Prince. You got some fans waiting on you.
Either editing was good or the book was engrossing enough I couldn't catch them ( which it was ) either way I had no complaints in that regard. Sadly it's rather a typical foreign game world with no real explanation WHY it's that way. There's a vague comment about divine bestowel but other comments make that... hazy. The story flows pretty well. Though again I'm actually kinda complaining about a general lack of info drops for story in an alternate location other then earth. Though somewhat mitigated by the fact it's kind of written in protagonist exclusive style third person and the protagonist never goes more then one city away from where he grew up. So it's rather unrealistic to expect him to ask about stuff he's known most of his life. The result however is that for an alternate location it's left pretty bland and unexciting. On that note combat was decently written however. There was blow by blow commentary. However ALL combat was fairly short and not really drug out. Expect only a single page or two for regular combat and I think maybe ten or so(?) for large group combat. It was there, it was prevalent but it was definitely not the focus of the story. The characters were fairly fleshed out. The main ones all explaining their own stories (albeit sometimes reluctantly) themselves. Though it seemed the author felt the need to throw a quirk or two even on unimportant characters. Kind of lessened the impact of everyone else's when it's too common. Still the important thing is I wasn't left feeling like the were just two dimensional place holders. Overall I would recommend placing this around upper middle of the reading list if not a little bit higher. Definitely worth reading but also not very hard to put down. I hope the author actually finishes writing the second book I'm looking forward to it.
Really should be a 4.5, wish Amazon would let us give half stars! Enjoyed the MC and his struggles against racial prejudice a lot, and definitely enjoyed the direction the storyline is taking. The world could have been more fleshed out but ... our MC never been beyond his village so perhaps world building will come as his world actually expands. A handful of minor grammatical/formatting errors but overall a strong start for a new author and I’m looking forward to Book 2!
