I have lived in Pakistan three years and this book helped me understand the culture as though I lived there my entire life. It is full of useful details on traditions, food, religion, ethnic groups , festivals, laws, you name it.There are no long-winded historical narratives with names and dates shot at you like machine gun fire. Instead we get down-to-earth accounts of what day to day life is all about. The reader can sense her observations have been made from decades of first-hand experiences. There are very few generalizations and stereotypes discussed as is common with other such culture books.The author wrote in a reverent and non-judgmental manner. You can tell she has developed a great respect for what foreigners perceive as a backward culture. I do not agree with the other reviewers who says she is sexist. She is just telling it as it is. Considering she has lived there 40+ years by her own choice, I trust she knows what she is talking about.

Alright book, pretty boring and hard to understand

I ordered this book with the expectation that it would contain the epic of Gilgamesh.. Instead i received the text from 50 shades of grey.. i am now confused and aroused.. HELP

I was not happy with my order, my boyfriend took the package out of the mailbox and it seemed fine until he opened it and about 50 ants came out of the package! The ants were sealed inside and were starting to eat the book. This was the other book in the package of ants.

kind of disappointing.....just wasn't as good as I hoped

Roxie is a great storyteller and expert on Portsmouth and local New England history, especially the paranormal kind. Her books and her ghost walks are well worth your time.

Roxie provides the reader with the history behind the real Portsmouth. She allows the reader to form their own opinion. Truly phenomenal.

I couldn't put this book down and read in one night. It is the perfect balance of Portsmouth, NH history and ghost stories for both ghost believers and nonbelievers. Roxie is a fantastic story teller and really did her homework. Being a local, I contacted Roxie, we met, and I've been completely fond of Roxie both as a friend and business colleague. I highly recommend this book and her others as well.

I loved this book! I met Roxie and had her sign my copy. I read it cover to cover the same day! It was really informative and wonderfully written! I can't wait to read her next book!

I first read this book along with several others from my local library when I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee. I bought this book because, as one reviewer said, Dr Vad was optimistic, but more because his 3 pronged approach to dealing with arthritis was sensible and I felt I could do it. His book is well organized and 3 years later I still refer to it.At first I found it painful to do the easiest of 3 levels of his exercise program, but eventually I got stronger. I was already taking glucosamine/chondroitin which now has been shown to help some of the people who have taken it in clinical trials. My diet was already pretty good, eating 5 fruits and veggies a day and avoiding processed foods.I wasn't consistent about following the advice in this book, but his suggestions motivated me to gradually make bigger improvements in exercise and diet. I recently started a yoga class, learning the hard way I had to do the poses gently. Doing yoga in class has made a huge improvement in my level of pain through strengthening and stretching the supporting muscles of my knee. Dr Vad adapted the exercises in this book from yoga.Last year, I had gone to a gym and hired a trainer who taught me to do floor and machine exercises. That helped but it was work, and in my 6th month of this regimen I injured my knees (without the trainer). Although everyone is different and this might be the right path for some, people with medical conditions have to be very careful exercising with machines.This book also motivated me to explore improving my diet and now I'm eating even healthier food and focusing on eating more food that help or prevent inflammation. His suggestions on supplements to take encouraged me to "get used" to green tea, ginger tea, and use ginger in some of my cooking. I added some of the other supplements he recommended, like vitamin D.All and all, Dr Vad's multiple approach to helping oneself has been very inspirational to me. The current medical environment has little to offer patients with osteoarthritis short of knee replacement. Injections and even knee replacements may help the pain, but whether or not these treatments are taken supporting muscles have to be strengthened to support the knee. This prevents more damage and pain. His advice on inflammation is also very helpful, could improve many aspects of health affected by inflammatory reactions, and really can't hurt to do them.Hopefully conventional medicine will catch up with these treatments and this approach. I definitely recommend this book for people with arthritis as a starting point to managing this condition!

The book has good nutritional and exercise information from a doctor who seems well-informed and realistic. He tells which foods help arthritis and which foods make it worse. He also tells you which activities are safe, which ones are moderate, and which to avoid. A must-have if you have arthritis. I am glad that I got it.

I bought this after seeing the doctor on PBS. My mother had just been diagnosed with arthritis and was in pain. This book is about a young man that had everything, athletic scholarships, top of his class academically, movie star looks and charisma, only to have it ripped away from him at the age of 15 over a small incident that triggered his OCD mental illness . The story is how he suffered for 31 years., At different points in time he would get well and started moving on to his goals only to relapse time and time again. He was always having to start from the beginning. With his medical background from his time in college and medical school, he careful he analyzes neurochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and the metabolic processes of the human body. He talks about the delicate balance of how the human body works and how inbalance can create disaster. That disaster can be exasperated by side effects of pharmaceuticals directly and indirectly. He was able to cure himself and remain symptom free for almost a decade. There are many lessons learned in this book from his journey and his amazing solutions and insights. Had he only become a scientist one could imagine the problems he could’ve solved. I completely enjoyed his journey and the information I was able to take away. I bought some friends this book. He states that there’s no magic bullets that resolves everything, rather it’s a combination of everything being in harmony. Everything is backed up with documentation and research. This book was written using the scientific method based on a hypothesis and he himself is the clinical case study. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I hope the information is spread on how to be healthier, fitter, and happier. And I hope anyone that suffers from any kind of physical or mental illness can rethink how they can get themselves back to a healthy state.

Inspiring, brilliant, and incredibly accurate. How do I know? I am the author's mother, and lived the journey and have enjoyed the fruits of his theory, and hope it helps others. At 92 years of age, the validity of InfinitE/IQ has and will continue to allow me to enjoy my grandchildren for years to come. Certainly if there was one doctor I would want as my physician it would be Robert; it is a shame his medical school will not allow him to resume his studies despite excellent academic achievement of those completed 2 years. It is a book for all, and a book that I feel can reshape the treatment of the human psyche and physical. With pride 5+ stars, and a mothers testimony to facts, and the files to prove all.

I bought this book to gain some understanding about OCD and how it can be treated without drugs. Robert's journey to manage his OCD and take control back of his life tears at your heart. This is a great book and resource about OCD. I never knew there was so much difficulty in dealing with OCD. Robert's ideas for how to make positive changes in your brain without drugs and manage OCD are solid, research-based, and thoroughly explained. This is a good book if you want to learn more about an alternate therapy and treatment. Robert provides helpful tools in conquering OCD with practical applications.
