Highly recommended” (School Library Journal)“Will resonate with young readers who have experienced a change in family dynamics, particularly divorce.” (The Horn Book)“Rhuday-Perkovich and Vernick hit all the right sister notes with hilarity and heart. Rhuday-Perkovich and Vernick are masters of All The Feels.” (Tracey Baptiste, author of The Jumbies, a School Library Journal selection)“I could describe this book as suffused with empathy, intensely vulnerable, fall-out-of-your-chair funny, and much more, but instead I’ll just describe what it’s like to read it, which I can do with one word: joy. To read Two Naomis is to experience joy.” (Mike Jung, author of Unidentified Suburban Object)“This is a sweet, modern story about friendship, divorce, and blended families, told from alternating POVs by the two different authors.” The Most Exciting Middle Grade Reads of Fall 2016 (Brightly)“Score one for blended families where race and mean-girl attitudes are not the issues, and where humor, compassion, and a shared love for baked goods bring people together.” (Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books)

Two girls named Naomi, who are vastly different, are thrown together when their mom and dad start dating. It's an awkward situation with the two having the same name, their parents suggesting the use of their middle names--and what if one of them doesn't have the coolest middle name?--and being enlisted to join a technology club to be forced into a bond. Is there room for compromise and can the two ever feel comfortable around each other? This middle grade book has a unique storyline, diverse characters, and issues that modern children face.

Excellent read! Was different from what my 11yr old normally reads. A great book to open up something just different to your child. Made for an awesome Reading Fair Project. Can’t wait to read Too Naomi

I really enjoyed this middle grade story about 2 girls, both named Naomi, being forced into a friendship due to their parents dating. I loved the way the chapters alternated between the two view points. There were distinctly different voices for each Naomi.

We love this book and are thrilled there will be a sequel!

I love the humor, openness, and heart of young kids. This character added just the right touch to diffuse all the pre-teen angst of the two Naomi’s!

I loved this book so much.

I agree with other posters that the two Naomis were awesome girls who were trying to navigate the waters of their parents' divorces, with very little support. I really liked them, and how they dealt with being forced together by learning to see each other with their hearts, and who they really are. I really liked how they learned that having interests in common was good, and learning to try things the other liked was great too.I LOATHED the parents. A pair of more selfish, clueless parents you will not find. Never once were any of the girls ever talked to about the dating situation beforehand, it was just dropped into their laps like bombs, nor did either parent really discuss it with any child later. Both parents expected all the children to get along and to just give up the things they were used to doing, in order to please the other parent. Naomi Edith's father had flatly refused to ever go to the beach with his own daughter, but she got to sit and watch him having all kinds of fun there with his girlfriend's daughter. He couldn't be bothered to make sure his own daughter got regular, decent meals, but everything had to be perfect with a dinner for his girlfriend and her kids. Valerie wasn't any better. She just let Tom be wherever he wanted to be in the girls' lives, no matter how they felt about it. I also felt bad for Naomi Edith, who was already abandoned by her mother.. another selfish parent. The ending of the book was unbelievable, but I won't spoil it. Like I said, thoughtless, self absorbed parents. I also could not stand Brianna. She was a brat and a half, whose mother just let her do and say whatever she wanted to, all the time. I wanted to smack both of them. Other posters have said Naomi Marie was "bossy," but since she was in charge of superbrat, it goes with the territory.

TWO NAOMIS is absolutely incredible, I was thrilled from start to finish! Reading the synopsis, I knew it'd be super cute but it was also so emotional. From happy to sad to angry to I-don't-know-what-I'm-feeling-but-I'm-super-emotional. The character development of Naomi Marie and Naomi Edith were off the charts. The authors' were very good at making sure the reader understood not only both Naomis but their parents, family, and friends. It was like being in their heads'.I loved both Naomis but I would say I connected with Naomi Marie a little bit more. She loved going to the library and making lists, just like me. She is also a bossy big sister, like me (haha). This is not to say I didn't love Naomi Edith, because I did, but I definitely saw more of myself in Naomi Marie. Both characters were incredibly unique and brought something different to the story. This is such an important novel for MG readers with divorced parents, to understand that change is okay. I definitely wish I had this book growing up. Two Naomis is also valuable for MG readers with non-divorced parents, to see from someone else's perspective. If there was an emoji that was the combination of the heart-eyes emoji and the crying emoji, that would be my reading experience. I love, love, loved this!!
