The prose is good, painting a word picture of a world almost entirely foreign to me and to most Americans. I found myself intrigued by a lifestyle I think I wouldn't find very fulfilling, and left me wondering why the pursuit of it can be so obsessive. It is really a collection of vignettes and character studies with no real driving narrative, which I found very unsatisfying. As I finished it, I wondered if I did so because I remain compulsive about finishing what I start. I feel a little like I've filled up at a buffet of appetizers and desserts, but missed the main course.

A good read, but I would advise to write down the names of the main people. They intertwine so much that it can be hard to keepthem all straight in your mind. The life styles of the people living in Palm Beach are interesting, pitiful, funny and sad all at the same time. Few people are married to people their own age and rarely do they stayed married to them. Money is the sun in this system, earning it, inheriting it and keep it is the way to be among to the elite. Of course some one dies or is murdered along the way. This is the author's third book I have read and enjoyed them all.

If you're looking for the PERFECT vacation read, this is the stuff. I should say that my reading tastes run almost exclusively to the classics of the 18th & 19th century when it comes to fiction, and to current events/politics/non-fiction when it comes to contemporary works. Somehow I picked this up and started reading it in the store - and could not put it down.It is very well written and the writer comes off as a most likable fellow. The "characters" in the book, however, do not come off as likable. In fact, I kept asking myself "why am I reading this book about these HORRIBLE people? It's a real tribute to the author's gifts that I not only finished it but could not put it down until I had.

Palm Beach is such a strange carousel of eccentrics and wannabe's. A friend of mine lives in West Palm and we often venture over into Palm Beach for dinner. How bizarre!! When I first arrived I was so naive that I thought a 90-year-old man with 3 / 20 year olds was having dinner with his granddaughters. I though perhaps his wife was using the rest room, until two of these girls started kissing one another while another man took photos. This was in a pretty upscale establishment for New Years. The quest for wealth and power is highly disturbing.

Dull.

The book gave insight into Palm Beach that one from the outside might not otherwise see. Most of the stories of the characters in the book had a tragic or unhappy ending such as murder, suicide, prison and divorce. I was hoping for a more positive story. I can only hope that the lives which were covered in the book only reflects a small percentage of those in Palm Beach. If not, then it is true what they say; all at glitters is not gold!

Without a similar background, peering into this Wasp World, is usually impossible. Leamer transends both the obvious & sublte social structure that has gates stronger than the iron that surrounds their mansions. This is not a small feat for an "Outsider". He breaks the "Red Pants" code early on & moves deeply into the subject of how those who wear them really live. An unsual and really delicious read.

I really like and enjoyed the subject, but found it a bit disjointed. Seemed like the author was jumping from person to person with another one tucked in here and there. Felt like I was reading The National Enquirer" ( said with a smile). Fun and interesting read.

The content of the book is great. However, if you are considering buying the kindle version of the book - simply forget it. The kindle version of the book appears to be a blunt scan of the analog book. You cannot bookmark pages, there is no table of contents. The text appears JPEG-broken after scans were coded for optimal size of files.. Terrible!

Very cool book. Printed with semi-transparent overlay pages. Super informative. If you want to be a designer, get it.

The organization of the book seems a bit disjointed to me. I would have also liked to have seen a lot of the examples use actual type rather than block diagrams.The overlays are helpful, more discussion about them would make them even more useful. I want to like the book, but am not quite there. If I had to describe the book in one word it would be sterile.

my only complaint is that it came with the back cover damaged

Professor recommended this book as supplementary reading for the course. Turned out to be a great reference and really helped me understand the complexity in some grids, especially with the opaque pages with grid overlay.

This was required reading in my layout class and it's really nice to have examples, visuals, and exercises to strengthen your layout skills.

Bought it for my 13 year old grandson. He loves it!! He has already animated a 5 second drawing he made!!

Not what I had hoped this title would be. The images look like photocopies of photocopies in black and white and were completely unreadable. The table of contents also didn't match up with the contents of the book. I'm not sure if the copy I received was misprinted. Other than that, I found this wasn't as friendly of content for a true beginner and as a visual learner, the images of a book are very important to me. I returned my copy.

It has been a while since I come across an Adobe Animate book that provides a complete practical guide for readers to teach them this amazing application–used to called Flash in the old days. I overviewed the book and what I really liked that the structured organization for the different features and tool that can be easily noticed from the title’s table of content.Going through the pages, I liked the easy flow of the information and supporting it with graphics and steps. It makes it easy to follow for beginners who haven’t worked with the Adobe Animate CC before. The titles in the book are catchy without distracting the learners from the standard terms.As I am teaching digital design, I find the book is a good manual for professors to use in there classes to teach the application based on its flow and use it as a guide for the students to follow up with what is presented in classrooms. I went through a couple of examples and unlike the other books, I can find the examples in this book easy to follow and targeting each technical feature. I guess this was intended as both the authors are Adobe Education Leaders and have written many books about Adobe Flash.To be honest, I wished to see the book interior designed in a better way to highlight the useful notes that you can see inline with the other examples. Using colored text or adding these notes could highlight it more.Overall, I believe this is a very good book to learn Adobe Animate CC and I recommend reading it before jumping to other advanced titles. This book will help you to absorb the basics of the application before moving to other learning resources.

I am using this text to teach a Digital Media course to high school students. I thought the content of the material was good, but it could have used another round of editing as the instructions are sometimes a bit off. I had to contact the author in order to actually get all of the digital files for the exercises. It is also worth noting that the digital copy includes color images while the print copy is only in black and white. Some of the images in the print copy do lose their effectiveness due to the lack of color.

As a student of economics as well as economic history and the history of economic thought this book was of interest once I read the blurb.I am not sure if the author's intent was an ideological demolition job on entrepreneurs who had either a social conscience or a different point of view about success in business particularly if comparison is made with the modern world.After reading this book while trying to give the author the benefit of the doubt, it seems to me that it serves as a warning to would be philanthropic capitalists to avoid following in the footsteps of those who have beaten the path before them and utilize the tried and trusted rules of Anglo-Saxon business practices in order to achieve success and then perhaps become philanthropic in both e r ways.There is no doubt that this is a well researched and well written book for which the author should be praised but there is a significant omission which cannot be overlooked.I refer to the shrinking number of small and medium sized enterprises in the United States and the parallel reduction in competition. This portrayal is at odds with the environment in which a lot of these entrepreneurs worked and because of these factors it is hard to see who the target audience for the book is.In the UK a lot of work has been done on Corporate Governance and I would recommend the work of #DavidGrayson for insights in this area.All in all i think that the author should consider another edition comparing and contrasting his original work with the contemporary situation in the USA. and the UK to give a wider view of the situation.

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Sarah Miller, and this is my voluntary and honest review. This was a heartwarming story about a tragedy turning into something joyful. It is a clean romance and a look into the Amish life. Heather and her son, Casper, move from New York to Pennsylvania to live with Jacob and Kat, her in-laws who are Amish. This is 18 months after Karl, her husband, is killed and she is recovering from losing a leg. This was the first time Heather has met Karl's family and they get off to a rocky start. The ending is great and I highly recommend this book.

THE AMISH GRANDSON BY SARAH MILLER IS AN AMAZING BOOK. IT IS A STORY THAT DEALS WITH DEATH, SORROW, HATE, FRIENDSHIP & LOVE. THIS IS A STORY WITH A LESSON TO LEARN BUT HAS A WONDERFUL ENDING. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

This is a good story. It shows how when we are broken that God will help us through the situation . I recommend this book.

A famous director had picked her out of all the merstudents at Trident Academy to star as Fishlein Maria in his play The Sound of Waves. As the curtain closed, a crowd of fans and reporters rushed to Pearl’s side. “Miss Swamp, may I have my picture sketched with you?” asked a small mergirl. Pearl nodded and lifted her pointy nose in the water as the merartist Piddock Picasso sketched her on a piece of kelp for her fan.

My 8 year old daughter fell in love with this series. The only thing is that she is on a 6th grade reading level, so she read the whole series in less than a week. She does reread them though and loves the fact that she owns them all.

My daughter loves this series. She’s age 8 and in 3rd grade. Read through this book in one day.

There are so many things wrong with this book. To start, the cover photo shows pasta - not Keto. The interior photos are low quality Black & White and do not always depict the food in the recipe. Example: the granola on page 26 clearly shows rolled oats in the photo (not Keto), and is different from the recipe. On page 70 you’ll see another image of pasta salad (not Keto) as the first image in the lunch recipes section. There is no corresponding recipe. Page 108 features a potato salad (not Keto). The portobello burger on page 28 calls for portobello mushrooms as the bun, but the photo clearly shows bread being used. Then there’s the awful, childish writing. Example: for the pancakes on page 55 the author writes “take out a frying pan and fry the pancakes on both sides”. There is amateur, bad writing throughout. While the cover of this books states it is “a complete guide for beginners” it does nothing to explain what Keto is, and features recipes that any true Keto expert would cringe at. What a waste of money!

The recipes in this book are so delicious. Also, I see that people are getting confused about the "5-ingredient" part in the title. There's obviously more than 5 ingredients needed. Each recipe has its 5 main ingredients, not 5 ingredients total in the book. My favorites are the jalapeno bacon egg cups, shrimp and avocado salad, and the Parmesan baked chicken.

This cookbook definitely helps me stay motivated to eat healthy and meant to benefit a beginner and change your lifestyle and it discusses where fats and calories come in when it comes to diet and weight loss and contains the following to help you meal prep keto diet meals effectively and inside this book you will find delicious and satisfying meal prep-friendly breakfast recipes,delectable and filling meal prep-friendly lunch recipes and much more and all the recipes inside are keto friendly thus geared towards weight loss and a healthy lifestyle and even I will be able to stick to my diet with these quick to prepare keto recipes and if you are short of time and needs detailed advice on prepping your food for your Keto diet, this might be the ideal book for you and i have learn everything to grasp to success prepare ketogenic meals prior to while not losing all the advantages of the keto diet and i have also discovered a way to mix the keto diet with meal homework to finally say good-bye to wasted cash time and energy on unneeded looking journeys and forgotten rotten food within the back of electric refrigerator and even i will be able to stick to my diet with these quick to prepare keto recipes!

I purchased this book because I’m on maternity leave and would like to stay keto. Normally I cook every day, but it’s harder now. This book gave a lot of ideas on how to cook things ahead, use fewer dishes, gives ideas for paleo keto, and other options on how to make the recipe different. There’s no pictures, which can deter some people, but I’m ok with it. This has made it easier to stick with keto, have delicious meals while doing minimal work and clean up. We even had some of the ingredients for a few meals in the freezer already! This is my go to book right now.

I love the information in this book, the structure, nutrition tips meal planning and such. My favorite recipes are classic deviled eggs, spinach and cheddar muffins, French style strawberry omelette, and Italian style eggs with mortadella bits. Wow! Yummy! We saw the TV documentary about this diet and were impressed by the results this man got following this diet. The book is clear and concise and contains recipes in the back of the book. If you are disciplined enough to be able to fast for two days a week, it will work wonders for you. I've lost 7 pounds this past month, Fasting isn't easy when you really love food, but it is rewarding. Nice one! Great book is here!
